  • Author: Mia Parker
  • Total Time: 25–30 minutes

  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Air Fryer Apple Fries feature juicy apple wedges coated in cinnamon-sugar panko breadcrumbs and air-fried until golden and crispy. An easy homemade snack or dessert made with simple ingredients and perfect for dipping in caramel sauce or chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples. Remove the cores and cut the apples into evenly sized wedges resembling French fries.
  2. Place the all-purpose flour in a shallow bowl.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  4. In a third bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  5. Coat each apple wedge in flour, shaking off the excess.
  6. Dip the floured apple wedges into the egg mixture, allowing excess liquid to drip off.
  7. Roll each wedge in the cinnamon-sugar panko mixture, gently pressing the breadcrumbs onto the surface.
  8. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  9. Arrange the coated apple wedges in a single layer, leaving space between them. Cook in batches if necessary.
  10. Air fry until the coating is golden and crispy and the apples are tender. Adjust the cooking time according to the thickness of the wedges and your air fryer.
  11. Carefully remove the apple fries and allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Honeycrisp apples provide a sweeter flavor, while Granny Smith apples offer a pleasant tart contrast.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to help the breadcrumb coating crisp evenly.
  • Serve warm with caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, or vanilla yogurt for dipping.
