Description
This easy cottage cheese flatbread recipe uses cottage cheese, flour, egg, and a few pantry staples to make soft, homemade flatbreads. Perfect for wraps, sandwiches, breakfast, or serving alongside your favorite meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Add the cottage cheese and egg to a mixing bowl. Stir until the egg is incorporated.
- Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until a soft dough begins to form.
- Add the olive oil and mix until the ingredients are combined.
- Let the dough rest briefly, then transfer it to a lightly floured work surface.
- Divide the dough into equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
- Flatten each ball into a round flatbread using your hands or a rolling pin.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place a flatbread in the skillet and cook until the underside develops golden-brown spots and the surface begins to set.
- Flip and cook the other side until golden and cooked through.
- Repeat with the remaining dough portions, adjusting the heat as needed.
- Serve warm or allow the flatbreads to cool before storing.
Notes
- If the cottage cheese is very watery, drain excess liquid before mixing.
- Lightly flour your hands and work surface if the dough is sticky. Avoid adding too much extra flour.
- For smoother flatbreads, blend the cottage cheese before mixing. Keep the flatbreads thin and avoid overcooking if using them as wraps.
